On March 7, Ascendant, along with the DC Public Schools and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, hosted an event titled Managing for Performance. The event has over 60 professionals representing over 20 schools coming together to talk about performance management in education.

Speakers

We had presentations from the following organizations: Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, DC Public Schools, Rochester City School District, Prince George's County Schools, Atlanta Public Schools, and Chicago Public Schools.

Structure

The first topic was about performance management at the district level. Then we discussed managing performance across a group of schools, and finally a discussion about managing performance within the school walls. We would have brief school presentations and then table discussions. Presentations covered Balanced Scorecard, SchoolStat, and other performance management techniques. All of the participants were taking notes and bringing back techniques and tricks to their organizations. Best of all, it provided an opportunity for networking across school districts and charter management organizations.
